Musk: Tesla expected to launch fully automated driving feature by the end of the year

According to the Kotex Daily News, during Tesla’s Q3 earnings call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla is on track to launch fully automated driving capabilities by the end of the year; and in the coming years, Tesla’s battery production costs will be half of what they are today, and capital expenditures will be cut by a third. It typically takes 12-18 months to reach capacity, and even 12-24 months for new technology. Looking ahead to 2021 and 2022, capex expectations have been raised by $2 billion to $2.5 billion. There are no current plans for a spin-off. Meanwhile, Musk said fully automated driving brought in about $10 million in deferred revenue in the third quarter, and that Tesla will no longer rely on internal battery production by 2021.
