In a Jan. 20 news release from Breitbart News, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) urged President Biden to provide assurances that he would not “completely transform America into some kind of socialist anti-utopia.
The Republican senator from Kentucky said that Democratic Senator Joe Manchin would be “the key” to preventing the transformation of America into a socialist state.
I think the most important thing is that we have to hear from President Joe Biden that he will not completely transform America into some kind of socialist anti-utopia,” Senator Paul said. That may sound quite dramatic, the United States is the country that can bring great wealth and humanitarian convenience to so many American people, but there are many things they want to do that would fundamentally transform the United States into a completely different country.”
Senator Paul added, “I think Senator Manchin, the Democrat from West Virginia, is a centrist who could play a key role depending on whether Senator Manchin is willing to use extended debate to delay a vote to block passage of the bill. The Senate could change America very quickly and completely if they simply passed all the bills with a simple majority. I think that would destroy the very foundation of our great American wealth and our great freedom.”
