Breitbart News reported on Jan. 15 that John Weaver said in a statement to Axios on Friday that he talked about “inappropriate” sexually explicit text messages he sent to young men, saying he was gay.
John Weaver is the co-founder of the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump political action committee. Since President Trump entered the Republican Party, Weaver has shifted his focus to leading the so-called “Never Trump” movement.
I’m gay,” he said. I have a wife and two children that I love. But my inability to reconcile those two facts has led to this pain.”
Weaver came under scrutiny after the incident in which several men on social media claimed Weaver sent them unsolicited sexually explicit text messages that included employment opportunities and political privilege in exchange for sex.
Some of Weaver’s past work includes serving as a senior adviser to politicians such as John McCain and John Kasich.
Weaver added that he took a medical leave of absence from the Lincoln Project last summer and that he would not return to the organization.
