According to AFP statistics, the number of confirmed deaths from Coronavirus Infection 2019 (COVID-19) has exceeded 2 million worldwide.
As of 2:25 a.m. Taiwan time this morning, official data from national authorities show that the number of deaths from the disease has reached 2 million and 66 worldwide.
The data comes at a time when countries around the world are working to combat the surge in COVID-19 cases, and vaccinations are gradually being launched.
According to AFP, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has reached 93,310,700 since the outbreak began.
Europe is the continent with the highest number of deaths from the disease, with a cumulative total of 650,560 deaths.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, 542,410 people have died of the disease, and in the United States and Canada, 400,790 people have died of the disease.
In terms of countries, the U.S. had the highest number of deaths from the disease at 389,581, followed by Brazil with 207,095, India with 151,918, Mexico with 137,916, the United Kingdom with 87,295 and Italy with 81,325.
