Seven people in the family, including the mother, died of the disease, and NBA star Towns was diagnosed.

The 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has killed the mother of NBA Gray Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns and six other relatives, and he himself confirmed his diagnosis today.

Karl-Anthony Towns, the 25-year-old power forward of the NBA’s Minnesota Gray Wolves, confirmed his positive screen test today in a statement posted on Twitter. Only a short time ago, the NBA announced that the Grizzlies’ home game against the Memphis Grizzlies today had been postponed.

Towns said, “I pray every day that this viral nightmare will soon pass and I implore everyone to take this seriously and take all the necessary precautions against the epidemic.”

“There is no way we can stop the spread of the epidemic alone, it will take all of us uniting against the epidemic to be useful.”

Last April, Towns’ mother passed away at the age of 58 after contracting the disease. Towns’ father was also diagnosed, but has since recovered.

According to U.S. media reports, six other members of Towns’ family have lost their lives to COVID-19-related complications.
