Fox, abandoned by conservative viewers, struggles to survive, proposes rescheduling

U.S. media “Gateway Pundit” reported on January 12, the original pro-conservative Fox News, in recent months faced a serious decline in ratings. In order to struggle to survive and win back the ratings of conservative viewers, Fox News will launch a “Fox News Primetime” conservative commentary program hosted by a rotating group of hosts at the 7 p.m. peak time, replacing the original Martha MacCallum ( Martha MacCallum’s show.

MacCallum’s show, which focuses on interviews with newsmakers and commentators, has faced stiff competition from Greg Kelly, host of the truly right-wing news channel Newsmax, and MacCallum’s ratings have fallen so much in recent months that MacCallum’s show will be moved to 3 p.m.

Among U.S. cable networks, Fox News Channel won its biggest ratings year in 2020 thanks to the addition of conservative viewers. But since Nov. 3 last year, CNN and MSNBC have overtaken Fox in the Nielsen ratings rankings, especially in coverage of the Capitol storming and the aftermath, with both cable channels ranking ahead of Fox.

The Gateway Pundit believes that McCallum’s pro-Trump show was replaced by Fox’s new conservative commentary show, with profound implications, but will that move alone regain Fox’s ratings?
