After Twitter permanently blocked Trump‘s account, Parler, which was used by a large number of Trump fans, was also taken down by Apple and Google, but the rightist social media platform Gab has benefited from it, adding 10,000 new users per hour.
According to FOSS News, Gab CEO Andrew Torba revealed the rapid increase in users and that the company is currently increasing the number of servers in response to the sudden burst of internet traffic.
Gab was launched in 2016 and is seen as an alternative social networking site to Twitter, but is biased toward conservatives. Torba noted that Gab had 18 million users on the 9th, with 500,000 new users.
In addition to being permanently banned from Twitter, Trump is also unable to post on Facebook and Instagram. In the face of such a blockade, Trump previously revealed that his team is in contact with other social media and may also create a new platform.
