Will Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games still be held? Japanese polls are out

Nearly 80 percent of Japanese people support the cancellation or postponement of the Olympic Games scheduled for this summer, according to a survey by Kyodo News.

The International Olympic Committee and the Tokyo Organizing Committee announced in late March 2020 that the Summer Olympics would be postponed to 2021 due to the New Crown pandemic. The Olympics are scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

According to the poll, 35.3% of respondents supported canceling the Olympics and 44.8% supported postponing them again.

The poll was conducted from January 9 to 10 through random calls to landlines and cell phones. 1,041 people participated in the survey.
