Tech giants join forces to strangle Parler Amazon shuts down its servers today

After Twitter and Facebook blocked the accounts of President Trump and his major supporters, many Trump supporters moved to the top of Parler platform. However, the tech giants did not stop there and started a joint stranglehold on Parler.

First, Google took down the Parler App from its Google Play app store, and then Apple gave Parler an ultimatum to block its account, and then officially took down the Parler app from the Apple app store as well. This means that Parler users will not be able to use the mobile app and will only be able to use Parler on the Parler.com website.

On January 9, Parler CEO John Matze released a statement saying that Amazon had decided to remove Parler from its AWS cloud service, effective Sunday, January 10, at midnight. midnight, Amazon will shut down all of our servers in an attempt to completely remove free speech from the Internet. We will be rebuilding (the server network) from scratch, and Parler will likely be unavailable on the Internet for up to a week.”

The statement continued, “We have prepared for such an event so as not to rely on Amazon’s proprietary infrastructure and to build a network of servers that do not rely on cloud services.”

Matze called the actions of Amazon, Google and Apple a “coordinated and unified effort.”

Matze added, “We’ll do our best to move to a new provider now because there are a lot of people who will compete to get our business; however, Amazon, Google and Apple are doing this as a coordinated and deliberate act, knowing that our options are limited and knowing that just as the tech giants are blocking President Trump across the board, (doing to Parler something like this), would do the most damage.”
