South African variant of the virus invades Israel 4 people known to be confirmed

Israel’s health Ministry said today that four patients were confirmed to be infected with the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) variant of the virus found in South Africa, after confirmed cases of the British variant were found in Israel.

The four people were diagnosed after returning from South Africa. The new strains found in the UK and South Africa may be more infectious than other variants of the virus.

Due to the surge in confirmed cases, Israel again imposed a national closure last month, and because the daily number of confirmed cases remains high, the epidemic control was again strengthened on the 8th.

Israel has launched a nationwide vaccination, according to the Ministry of Health, has administered about 1.7 million doses, more than 70% of the elderly over 60 years of age throughout the territory has been injected with the first dose.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Benjamin Netanyahu) announced on the 7th that he has signed an agreement to purchase a vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech for all Israeli people over the age of 16 to be administered by the end of March.

Israel, with a total population of 9 million, has accumulated more than 3,600 deaths from the disease.
