Hong Kong’s pro-communist Oriental Daily News, citing unnamed U.S. media, reported Friday (8) that about 100 U.S. diplomats signed a collective memo urging Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to condemn President Trump over the congressional riots via the State Department’s “dissent channel cable.
The cable lists four points that hold Trump responsible for inciting demonstrators to break into Congress, saying, “Trump’s incitement to violence against free and fair elections in the United States is absolutely unacceptable and inconsistent with U.S. law.” The diplomats also said that the United States regularly condemns the use of violence and intimidation by foreign leaders to interfere with peaceful democratic processes and overturn the will of voters, so the State Department should name Trump for the Congressional onslaught, saying, “When the United States interacts with the world, it needs to express that no one is above the law and immune from public criticism in the American system.”
