NYPD Chief Shea infected with Chinese Communist virus

City Police Commissioner Shea announces new disciplinary guidelines at a mayoral press conference on Aug. 31.

On Friday morning (Jan. 8), the New York City Police Department (NYPD) tweeted via its official Twitter account that City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea, 51, had been diagnosed with COVID-19 (Chinese Communist virus).

The tweet noted that Shea is in good condition, remains in regular contact with administrative staff and is currently working remotely from home. Neither the city’s police department nor Shea’s personal Twitter handle has disclosed the timing of Shea’s infection and diagnosis.

In late March, Deputy Commissioner for Counterterrorism John Miller was also diagnosed with the virus, but has since recovered.
