The President of Chicago’s Police Union defended the protesters who entered the Capitol on Wednesday: “There was no arson,” the Gateway Pundit said Jan. 7. …… robbery.
John Catanzara of the Fraternal Order of Police told Chicago Public Radio’s WBEZ that the protest was “a bunch of angry people who felt the election was somehow stolen. “There was no arson, there was no burning of anything, there was no looting, there was minimal property damage,” Catanzara added.
Catanzara, who also supports President Trump, was also concerned about the election being stolen. Catanzara said, “There’s no doubt that there were some shady things that happened in this election.” “To say that many people voted for Joe Biden, this I don’t believe. For the rest of my life, you’ll never convince me of that. But it’s still important to show proof.”
“Evidence is important,” the fellow police officer’s president continued, “and until the evidence comes in, they won’t be ashamed, but it’s shame out of frustration.”
He went on to note that “there was no fight. There was clearly no violence in the group. They pushed past the guards and got into the Senate. Did they destroy anything in the Senate? No.”
Referring to the media and politicians who have accused the people who entered the Capitol of treason, Catanzala said that the most serious crime of entering the Capitol to protest is trespassing, and that’s the extent of it. It’s ridiculous and ignorant to say that these people who entered the Capitol are treasonous.”
