U.S. media outlet The Gateway Pundit reported Jan. 8 that Capitol Hill police officer Brian Sicknick died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a fire extinguisher during a Jan. 6 protest, which The Gateway Pundit believes is not the truth. When he was admitted to the hospital at the time, it was reported that it could not be determined whether he had been hit by a fire extinguisher or whether it was a medical emergency.
Sources later told The Gateway Pundit that the officer was on duty during the protests and had a sudden “medical emergency” (possibly a stroke), and that it was unclear whether this was related to the riots.
Media reports said the officer was struck by a fire extinguisher during the Jan. 6 protests and died of his injuries. They lied.
The officer was hospitalized for a “medical emergency” in critical condition. It was not determined whether he was hit by a fire extinguisher or whether the medical emergency was even related to the protest.
Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund also announced his resignation, effective Jan. 16. Sund has been heavily criticized for his response to the unrest and for failing to keep determined protesters out of the building.
