The World health Organization (WHO) Director General Tan Desai said the Chinese government has yet to grant entry to a team of international experts to investigate the source of the coronary pandemic. Tandezai expressed “great disappointment” in this regard.

Reuters reports that WHO previously announced that a 10-member international WHO expert team would work with Chinese counterparts to trace the origins of the pandemic. The crown disease epidemic broke out first in Wuhan, China, more than a year ago.

The WHO expert team was scheduled to leave for China earlier this month, but Tandse confirmed on Tuesday (5) that visas for the international expert mission have still not been approved.

Today we learned that Chinese officials have not yet issued entry permits for the international expert mission,” Tandse said at an online press conference in Geneva. “I have been in contact with senior Chinese officials and have again made it clear to them that the mandate of this expert mission is a priority for WHO.”

The WHO international expert mission is led by Peter Ben Embarek, WHO’s chief zoonotic disease expert, who made an initial visit to China last July.

Two of the members of the international expert mission have already departed, one of whom has now turned back, while the other is in transit in a third country.
