On December 22, 2020, we learned that the case of Nanjing Zhang Ling v. Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau Economic Development Zone Branch Administrative Detention was decided by Wuxi City Liangxi District Court in vain.
On June 13, 2020, Nanjing Zhang Ling mailed an Administrative Complaint to the Liangxi District Court of Wuxi City because she disagreed with the administrative detention punishment decision made by the Economic Development Zone Branch of Wuxi City Public Security Bureau.
On December 17, 2020, Nanjing Zhang Ling received an administrative judgment from the Wuxi Liangxi District Court rejecting her claim.
According to Zhang Ling, at the end of last year, she produced short videos and pictures exposing the persecution of human rights defenders and sent them to dozens of large groups, including a WeChat group in which Wuxi Ding Hongfen was the group leader. The police reported Zhang Ling’s “illegal behavior” to the Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Dongjiang Police Station for publishing pictures of national leaders and inappropriate comments that disturbed the order of the group. On January 22, 2020, Zhang Ling was sent to the detention center for New Year’s Eve after a decision was made to administratively detain Zhang Ling for ten days.
Zhang Ling said: “The law does not prohibit citizens from publishing photoshopped pictures of national leaders, and the defendant failed to prove that the words in the pictures were ‘inappropriate remarks’, and to put it bluntly, the detention was a retaliation against me by the Dongjiang police station. The verdict of the Liangxi court is a bogus verdict, the judicial corruption in China is really very sad, the public power is reckless and arbitrary, the domestic injustice, the people scream to heaven and earth, nowhere to redress their grievances, but the government at all levels is screaming ‘rule of law and justice’ every day, deceiving the world! I must appeal and resolutely seek justice!”
