Florida House member Matt Gaetz (R) said he plans to challenge the election results at the Jan. 6 session of Congress. This comes after several members of Congress have publicly stated they will challenge the election results in a fraud controversy.
Rep. Gates said Saturday (Dec. 19) at the SAS2020 Summit, “On Jan. 6, I’m going to join the congressional challengers, and we’re going to go against state elector results where there’s opacity.”
“I’m not going back to the old Republican style. I’m not going to announce my loss as politely to Mitt Romney (R) or the Bush family. If you want to drain the swamp, hire a Floridian”, said Matt Gaetz.
On Dec. 17, Alabama U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a former national football coach, announced he would challenge the electoral vote in Congress on Jan. 6. Tuberville is believed to be the first Senate member to publicly make a statement challenging the election.
Gates said he has spoken with Tuberville, who told him he has plans to challenge the election results.
“I had the opportunity to speak with Coach Tuberville and he said that we no longer need to continue to play the loser’s script and that it’s time to challenge the election,” Gates said, adding, “While the chances are slim and the future will be tough and bumpy, we will challenge the election on Jan. 6. “
Under U.S. election regulations, election challenges during the Jan. 6 congressional session must be filed in writing by at least one member of the House of Representatives and one senator. If the challenge meets the requirements, the joint session will be suspended and Congress will debate for up to two hours, followed by a vote in which both houses of Congress will need a majority vote to reject the election results.
So far, members of Congress from Alabama, Arizona, Texas, Georgia and many other places have announced that they are prepared to challenge the election results on January 6. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), who was the first to announce a challenge to the challenge, said, “If we surrender easily, we will have no chance of winning, but if we challenge the questionable election results, we will have a chance to win. So I won’t be joining the surrender panel.”
