The San Francisco-based social networking platform Twitter has been blocking accounts that embarrassed Beijing.
It is the second time that her Twitter account has been blocked, and she said that she was not notified in advance when other people’s tweets were blocked, but she did not receive any notice before her account was blocked. I don’t really understand why Twitter blocked my account. I was just giving information about my daughter’s health after the dangers of the fake vaccine, and I was just sending out some information about my rights. I didn’t create any rumors, and I didn’t spread any rumors. Isn’t Twitter an American company? Isn’t freedom of speech constitutionally protected in the United States? Is Twitter also controlled by Beijing?”
A number of U.S. politicians have spoken out against Twitter’s September 14 blocking of the account of Hong Kong virus expert Yan Limeng, demanding an explanation. Senior White House adviser Navarro tweeted, “A Chinese scientist investigating the deadly Wuhan virus was silenced by the Chinese Communist Party after discovering something fishy, and now she’s escaped her life and come to the U.S. to tell the truth about what she knows, but is silenced by ‘free’ American social media. “
U.S. Senator Josh Hawley also criticized Twitter, saying, “Now Twitter is publicly siding with Beijing.”
So far we have not seen a public response from Twitter to these questions.
