Hundred-Year-Old Multimorbid Man Cured of New Coronavirus

The news that a 103-year-old man in the Mexican epidemic was able to beat the neocoronavirus, despite suffering from multiple chronic diseases, and was discharged from the hospital was encouraging. Another case of a 100-year-old man recovered in Mexico was reported in the southeastern state of Tabasco, where a 118-year-old man was diagnosed with the disease on July 25 and later recovered successfully.

According to an AFP report, a 103-year-old Mexican man with a chronic illness beat the virus. A 103-year-old Mexican grandmother with a chronic lung disease has successfully beaten the neoconavirus and recovered, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) announced Sunday. According to IMSS, which is part of Mexico’s health care system, the elderly woman was hospitalized for 11 days after contracting the disease. The woman’s full name was not released, but her name was Dona Maria.

Dona Maria tested positive for chronic lung disease but had no other aggravating factors, such as diabetes, obesity, or hypertension.

According to the report, Dona Maria was taken to a regional hospital in Guadalajara, in the western state of Jalisco, on September 22 with symptoms of fever, difficulty breathing, and a runny nose. Dona Maria did not have access to a respirator during her treatment. She was always very cheerful, conscious, and spoke to the physicians,” said David Sanchez, director of the regional hospital. She even ended up telling us to take care of ourselves. She’s progressing quite well and her symptoms have cleared up.”

Dona Maria was discharged from the hospital and returned home on October 2. The photo released by the Social Security Institute shows Dona Maria in a wheelchair, clapping and greeting a line of doctors as she is wheeled out of the hospital.

The AFP news agency said that an even more surprising case had been reported in the southeastern state of Tabasco, where a 118-year-old man was diagnosed with the disease on July 25 and later recovered without incident.
