The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) tweeted a photo on the 20th in which the Palestinian militant group Hamas is seen firing rockets directly at Israel from a residential area in Gaza, stressing that Hamas is forcing Palestinians to use them as human shields, “putting everyone Everyone is in danger.”
According to aerial photos released by the Israeli army, the rockets can be clearly seen trailing long white smoke from the Gaza residential area and flying towards Israel. The Israeli army also marked the nearby buildings, and the rocket launch site can be found in an open space next to a school and surrounded by ordinary residential houses.
The Israeli army further pointed out that in this aerial photo alone, dozens of general homes, eight school buildings, three mosques, and even a hospital and a United Nations facility can be seen. The Israeli army stressed that Hamas’ choice of this location for the rocket launch “puts everyone in danger.
Because military bases are vulnerable to priority attacks by the enemy, the general public would strongly oppose locating related facilities near residential areas to avoid being implicated; however, in areas where armed forces are fanatically supported or where the local population is defenseless, militant groups conducting guerrilla warfare often hide or launch attacks in residential areas, making it difficult for opponents who must be concerned about international perceptions to strike, or to use them as a way to bash their opponents and gain sympathy after civilian casualties occur. They also use them as a weapon to attack their opponents and gain sympathy when civilian casualties occur.
The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (GCRP), a non-governmental organization, released a report on the 20th, stating that at least 219 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli air strikes since the 10th, including 61 children. 61 children, and more than 1,500 people have been injured and 130 buildings, including 18 medical facilities, have been severely damaged or destroyed. But the report also noted that Palestinian armed groups such as Hamas have fired more than 3,000 rockets into Israeli residential areas, and although about 90 percent of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome, they still caused 12 deaths and damage to civilian property, also constituting war crimes.
