Chen Mei and Cai Wei, the two volunteers charged with “provoking and provoking trouble,” pleaded guilty in court Tuesday (11) in the Wenyuhe courtroom of Beijing’s Chaoyang District Court in the highly publicized “TuanDotStar” case, which resulted in the deletion of an article on the backup epidemic. Chen Mei’s brother, Chen Koon, tweeted that his mother and Cai Wei’s father were allowed to attend the trial, and quoted his mother as saying that the trial lasted about 100 minutes and that the two wore protective clothing to the court. The prosecutor referred to “criminal facts” including 2049 BBS (Endpoint Star website affiliated discussion community), said Cai Wei is the builder of this BBS, Chen Mei is the administrator. The prosecutor alleged that the BBS contained a lot of “inaccurate information, inciting people’s opinions and insulting national leaders.
The two pleaded guilty in court, and the court did not hand down a verdict, but Chen Koon said the prosecutor’s office recommended a sentence of one year and three months. Chen conveyed to his family through his official lawyer that he would not appeal if the verdict matched the sentencing recommendation, but he would appeal if the recommended sentence was seriously exceeded.
