British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced yesterday that the UK has spent £800 million on 148 Challenger 3 tanks, which he called “Europe’s deadliest tank,” and stressed that The upgrade plan can not only significantly increase the British Army’s combat capability, but also create a large number of jobs, and the British Army is expected to receive the first Challenger 3 tanks in 2027.
Comprehensive foreign media reports, Walrus 7 announced that Britain and German weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall (Rheinmetall) signed an 800 million pounds contract to buy 148 Challenger 3 tanks to replace the “Challenger 2” (Challenger 2) tanks that have been in service since 1998.
Challenger 3 type tank is the first British digital tank, in addition to the integration of multi-domain information, Wallace will also call it “Europe’s deadliest tank”, because this type of tank can reach 97 km/h, can mount additional high-speed shells, but also equipped with the latest target calibration, tracking system, as well as a new long-range thermal imaging camera.
