Sky-high price! Russia’s largest ever cut diamond to be auctioned, nearly 101 carats, valued at CHF 18 million

Russia’s largest ever cut diamond weighing 100.94 carats will be auctioned through Christie’s in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 12th of this month, with an estimated sale price between 12 million and 18 million Swiss francs (about NT$370 million to NT$550 million).

Reuters reports that Christie’s auction house jewelry expert Marie-Cecile Cisamolo said the diamond, known as the “Alrosa Spectacle,” was cut from a 200-carat rough diamond mined in 2016 and reached the highest grade of D color It is clear and colorless.

The Alrosa Spectacle diamond took one year and eight months to achieve the perfect cut, Chisamoro said. The auction featured 144 lots, mostly rings, earrings, brooches and other jewelry set with diamonds, sapphires and rubies, according to the auction.
