Recently, former U.S. Secretary of State and former CIA Director Mike Pompeo urged House members at a closed-door Republican Study Committee luncheon to work with their district elected officials to help identify projects and investments funded by Beijing that appear benign but are actually fronts for Chinese Communist espionage; in January, Pompeo also took to social media to In January, Pompeo also sent dozens of tweets on social media exposing the many ways in which Chinese spies have infiltrated the United States. In January, Pompeo also posted dozens of tweets on social media exposing a variety of Chinese espionage activities in the United States. The use of spy systems to gather intelligence, technology, and even further influence American society and public opinion has become increasingly difficult to conceal.
Jin Xiuhong, president of the U.S. branch of the Democratic Front, said that the Chinese Communist Party has long been infiltrating the United States from all aspects of the economy and politics, and even trying to subvert the United States. She cited Richard Milhous Nixon’s visit to China in 1972 as an example, when the U.S. side needed a live broadcast, the Chinese Communist Party took advantage of the situation and demanded that the U.S. sell the entire broadcast satellite system to the Chinese side and teach them how to use and operate it. Jin Xiuhong said, “On the surface (the Chinese Communist Party) is to do business with you, but in fact it is theft of technology, the Chinese Communist Party is still using this set.”
Jin believes that the recent “spy car” accusation against Tesla in China is in fact the Chinese Communist Party has learned its self-driving system and other technologies to drive Tesla out of China, and the Chinese Communist Party’s use of commercial means to infringe on Western high-tech is not a new thing. Working with the Chinese Communist Party is uncomfortable at first, but then it’s a loss of human rights and a loss of freedom,” she said. Whenever you deal with the CCP, you become a loser, not just politically, but economically as well.”
There is also no shortage of Chinese Communist infiltration in overseas pro-democracy circles, but Jin Xiuhong believes that by uniting all the forces that can cooperate, the losses can be reduced. She said, “Sometimes there are agents around who sow discord and provoke conflicts and strife that can arise between organizations.” Faced with this situation the pro-democracy activists are also becoming more and more alert and awake to the fact that although the Chinese Communist Party’s infiltration of the United States has never stopped, the effect has been limited.
Jin Xiuhong said the CCP has never stopped infiltrating the pro-democracy movement at home or overseas, but this is not enough to fear, she said, “We do not put the communists in our eyes because although the CCP claims to have hundreds of thousands or millions of members, they are easily bought, 50 cents can be bought.”
Jin Xiuhong said, “The CCP is a terrorist organization that expands externally and suppresses internally. Americans hear a lot of propaganda from the CCP that spends a lot of money and advocates how rich and strong China is, but these are all planned news. This fraudulent propaganda is not known to Americans, and what we need to do is to let Americans know how sinister the CCP is.”
Wang Juntao, co-chair of the National Committee of the Chinese Democratic Party, was sentenced for his involvement in the June 4, 1989 movement, fled to the United States in 1994 on medical parole, and has been promoting the Chinese democracy movement overseas for a long time since then, Wang said, adding that the CCP is at the top of its game in terms of secret service infiltration. While overseas, he was frequently interfered with by Chinese communist agents, but in reality, they were unable to make much difference, and he continued to campaign for democracy in China.

Liu Yinquan, president of the Chinese Social Democratic Party, has also been interfered with by CCP agents overseas, saying, “They (CCP agents) have used every opportunity to slander and attack us (overseas pro-democracy activists), and have even reported in real names that I have returned to China.” Because Liu was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party and sought asylum in the U.S., if he had returned to China, he would have raised concerns and inquiries from the Immigration Bureau and other relevant agencies.
Liu Yinquan said, “As long as it is reported with legal, the U.S. government will definitely go to investigate, so I was made to feel overwhelmed and very frustrated.” However, he believes that there are still so many people in China who are not able to speak out for themselves, and he is already living in a free society in the United States, so he still has to continue to stand up for democracy and freedom in China, and has to endure these threats and intimidation that are not very effective.

On May 4, 2017, the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) held a full-day hearing at which experts disclosed the CCP’s tight internal information surveillance and external influence and infiltration of overseas media. However, experts also pointed out that the CCP’s overseas infiltration is costly, but its influence remains limited for now.
