Faster than expected Trump launches social media-style platform to post instant comments

Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday (May 4) launched a social media space-style communications platform that will allow Trump to post comments, pictures and videos that will give him the ability to communicate directly with his supporters.

The platform, called “FromtheDeskofDonaldJ.Trump,” can be found at www.DonaldJTrump.com/desk.

In late March, former Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski predicted that Trump’s new social media platform would be available within three to four months. And the actual launch of the platform took just over a month.

The platform’s technology is said to be provided by Campaign Nucleus, an organization founded by Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale with the mission of “creating a digital ecosystem for the effective management of political campaigns and organizations,” Fox News said.

The space currently only allows Trump to post and allows followers to share the former president’s posts on Twitter and Facebook, with a “like” button for posts. The new platform does not yet allow users to reply to or interact with Trump’s posts, but it does allow users to get timely updates on his posts. More features and updates are expected to be added to the platform in the future.

Lewandowski previously said that President Trump’s upcoming social media debut will be “an interactive communication tool where the president will be able to post messages on the platform, allowing people to communicate directly with him.”

In January, Trump was blocked by Twitter, Facebook and other major media outlets from making statements, after which Trump made frequent statements through his Save America PAC and other platforms, but never joined the new social media platform. After the construction of the new social media, it is expected that Trump will use this platform as his speaking channel to replace platforms such as Twitter.

On Tuesday, Trump released his first promotional video on the new platform, which declares his social media as “a space for safe and free discussion” and includes the tagline “Straight from Trump’s desk.
