Far-Left Democratic Party Green New Deal Planner: Saving the Planet Requires Eliminating Police and Changing Power Relations

The Gateway Pundit reported on May 3 that Rhiana Gunn-Wright, director of climate policy at the Roosevelt Institute and the architect of the Green New Deal, said that a clean environment must be free of police and that the Green New Deal “is about changing power relations.”

According to Wright, a large part of achieving “environmental justice” involves dealing with “police brutality,” which is an “environmental justice issue.

Wright acknowledges, “It’s not just about how close or how far you are from a fossil fuel facility, it’s about everything that makes up your physical environment, including policing, public safety, education, clean water. All of those are part of one’s physical environment.”

Wright doesn’t actually want to just reform corrupt police departments; her Green New Deal agenda aims to abolish all police and create a “community” policing system where people are essentially self-directed.

Wright believes this will ensure that “black” and “brown” children can grow up in a “police-free future,” which will lead to “less crime and more safety.”
