The Erikson Institute for Child Development, a “long-term partnership” with the Communist Youth League of the Communist Party of China, publishes “nursery rhymes reflecting core socialist values” and magazines praising Xi Jinping and Marx, according to National Pulse on May 3.
The Erikson Institute for Child Development (Erikson Institute), located in downtown Chicago, Illinois, and named for renowned psychoanalyst and developmental psychologist Erik Erikson, is one of the nation’s foremost graduate schools of child development, offering academic programs and degrees for educators and social workers. Government officials, program administrators, advocates and grant foundation officials in the child education sector rely on the group’s research.
However, in August 2017, the Erickson Institute for Child Development signed a long-term partnership agreement with the China Children’s Press and Publishing Group (CCPPG) to share educational resources. The event was attended by Hong Lei, CCPPG’s Consul General in Chicago.
China Children’s Press and Publishing General Corporation (CCPPG), publishes the official publication of the CCP Pioneer Corps, which is a branch of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League; the CCP Online website, which CCPPG began hosting in 2001, is a key joint initiative of the Ministry of Culture, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the General Administration of Radio, Film and Television.
The General Publishing House of China Children’s Press, in line with the Communist Party’s goal of “spreading and defending the doctrine of Marx, Lenin, Mao and Deng”, has published an English-language book on Marx, “Greatness and Human Rights – Young People Read Marx”. The publisher released “100 Core Values Nursery Rhymes,” which it describes as “a collection of inspirational nursery rhymes that embody the core values of socialism.
Previously, Cricket Media, a global children’s learning company and award-winning children’s publisher, was brought down by the Chinese Communist Party, and in September 2016 Cricket Children’s Books entered into a partnership agreement with the General Publishing House of China for the release of English-language editions of Baby Illustrated and Preschool Illustrated in the United States.
The Erikson Institute of Child Development, too, has sent educators to China (the Communist Party) to attend educational conferences sponsored by the state-run East China Normal University. While working with the Communist Party, the Chicago-based Child Development Institute has doubled down on its “commitment” to social justice, pledging to use its resources to “dismantle institutional and systemic racism.
