Trump says defeat in 2020 election is “big lie”

Former U.S. President Donald Trump lost his re-election bid to Democratic rival Joe Biden on that Monday six months ago, but he still claims he was stolen from a second term in the White House. That has put some Republican officials and Trump at odds over the legitimacy of Biden’s victory.

“Starting today, the 2020 fraudulent presidential election will be known as the Big Lie!” Trump said in a new statement.

The former president made the comments from his estate on the Atlantic Ocean in Florida.

Trump has hinted that he may run for president again in 2024, but he has also said he won’t make a decision until after the November 2022 congressional elections, which are about control of both houses of Congress. The Democrats currently control the House and Senate by a slim margin.
