In a recent interview with U.S. media, former Under Secretary of State Keith Krach talked about his visit to Berlin last September, when he shouted at Xi Jinping and told him to push down the firewall. He said that the Communist Party’s one-way firewall separates the Chinese people from the truth.
In an interview with the Voice of America, Clutch was asked by a reporter why he chose Berlin as the place to shout at Xi. I was right next to the Berlin Wall,” Krutch said. It really reminded me, and I made a comparison, how the Berlin Wall separates the German people, just like how the one-way firewall in China (the Chinese Communist Party) separates the Chinese people from the truth. It was then that I asked General Secretary Xi to tear down that firewall because all the data was coming in but not going out, all the propaganda was going out but the truth was not coming in.”
Kratch also mentioned that his overall strategy toward the CCP while at the State Department was actually to leverage three of America’s greatest competitive advantages: namely, strengthening U.S. relationships with allies and friends, leveraging private sector innovation and resources, and expanding the moral high ground of democratic values.
More than three decades ago, President Reagan said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, please bring down this wall,'” Krutch said in Berlin last September. Now the Berlin Wall is gone, but a new digital wall has emerged, and that is, the Chinese (Communist Party of China) firewall.”
“Mr. Xi (Xi Jinping), please push down the China (CCP) firewall.” Krutch said.
Krutch tweeted a video of him shouting at Xi in Berlin at the time, sparking concern among netizens, some of whom said it would be more effective for the U.S. to push back the CCP (Communist Party of China).
Others said, “It’s simply naive to ask Xi to tear down the firewall.”
Krazy was visiting several European countries, including Germany, to urge them to join the U.S. Clean Network initiative.
In an interview with the Voice of America, he said the Clean Network initiative is really important because it defeats the Chinese Communist Party’s master plan to own 5G communications. And 5G communications is not just about your phone, it’s about the grid, it’s about the Internet of Things, it’s about manufacturing processes, health systems, etc. So it’s a very important thing. So it’s a very important thing. But one of the very important things it does is it shows that the Chinese (CCP) model can be defeated and exposes their biggest weakness, which is lack of trust.
