North Korea has completed a test of a small “suicide drone” that not only has a reconnaissance function but can also attack the enemy, according to the Chosun Ilbo newspaper. Leader Kim Jong-un also thanked the researchers with satisfaction and said the success is the cornerstone for the progress and strength of the Korean People’s Army.
According to the report, North Korea started the test in Banghyun District, Guseong, North Pyongan Province on the 10th and informed Kim Jong-un on the 14th that it had successfully completed the “final tactical and technical data stabilization” test of the reconnaissance and attack drones. The government has also written a letter of thanks to Kim Jong-un, saying that this success is the cornerstone of the progress and strength of the Korean People’s Army.

During the test, in addition to researchers and engineers, the North Korean Ministry of Munitions Industry, the North Korean Academy of Defense Sciences and other government departments were also present to inspect the successful test of this drone, which has important military significance for the country. The drone is known to be able to conduct reconnaissance deep in the front line and also carry out precise suicide attacks.
Kim Jong-un had said at the 8th National Congress in January that the development of drones would be an important task for the country. Researchers have also revealed that the drone is capable of launching a “pincer attack” against South Korean equipment and hopes to start deploying it by November this year.
