According to a Reuters analysis of state and county data, new COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Virus) infections in the U.S. fell 16 percent last week to 409,000 cases, the largest weekly decline in new infections since February.
The number of COVID-19 (Chinese communist virus) deaths fell 4% to 4,972 in the week ending last Sunday (April 25). This is the first time since last October that the number has fallen below 5,000.
Although Michigan’s number of new infections fell 29 percent last week from the previous week, it still led all states in new infections per capita. New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which also saw a drop of more than 20 percent in new cases, had the second-highest rate of infection.
The number of new infections per week is still rising in 12 of the 50 states, down from 30 states last month. The states with the largest increases were Tennessee, Oregon and Arizona.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 43 percent of Americans had received at least one dose of COVID-19 (CCA virus) vaccine as of Sunday, and 29 percent had been fully vaccinated.
Across the U.S., the rate of vaccinations dropped 14 percent from the previous week, with an average of 2.7 million doses of vaccine administered each day.
The average number of patients with COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Virus) infection in hospitals across the country, according to a Reuters analysis, remains at about 41,000.
