The Hong Kong government granted 10,000 square feet of land to build a permanent residence for Beijing’s National Security Agency in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong government announced today, April 23, that it is offering two sites in Kowloon to Beijing for the construction of the Central Government’s Office of State Security in Hong Kong, including permanent offices and ancillary facilities.

From the map circulated on the Internet, the two sites are located in Tai Kok Tsui Hoi Fan Road, Kowloon, close to each other, one of which is coastal. According to the Hong Kong government’s news website, the site has a total area of about 11,500 square meters, and is within the South West Kowloon Outline Zoning Plan, a “Government, Institution or Community” zone.

The Hong Kong government said that the Beijing Central Office in Hong Kong, will be in accordance with the Hong Kong National Security Law and the relevant applicable laws and regulations in Hong Kong, to take forward the construction works, and bear the necessary costs.

According to the Central News Agency’s press release from Hong Kong, the Beijing Office of the State Security Bureau in Hong Kong is currently based at the Vantage Hotel in Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island, and its full name is: “Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the Maintenance of National Security”, established under Article 48 of the Hong Kong National Security Law.
