Neoconavirus was found in a farmed mink in Eure-et-Loir, France. The Ministry of Agriculture decided to cull thousands of mink from this farm. The ministry said that three other farms were thoroughly tested and one was found to be fine; it is still waiting for test results from the other two farms.
The Danish Prime Minister said that Denmark has seen a number of mink deaths in the past few months, including the deaths of mink in Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and other European countries. The Danish Prime Minister said that there have been several cases of farmed mink transmitting the mutant neocoronavirus to humans in Denmark.
Since August of this year, mink have died from the new coronavirus in a number of U.S. states. More than 15,000 mink have died after being infected with the new coronavirus in Utah, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Government authorities are investigating and quarantining more than a dozen mink farms. There are approximately 360,000 breeding mink in the United States and 2.7 million pieces of mink were produced last year. Wisconsin has the largest marten industry in the U.S., followed by Utah.
