French health authorities said there were 300 new deaths from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in France today over the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total of deaths to more than 100,000 cases nationwide.
The total number of deaths from the disease in France yesterday was 99,777, and 300 new deaths were reported today, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 100,77.
AFP pointed out that France is the third country in Europe to have a total of more than 100,000 deaths from the epidemic, after the UK and Italy both passed this threshold.
The United States is now the world’s deadliest country, with more than 564,000 people killed so far, followed by Brazil, Mexico and India.
