Gordon G. Chang, author of the book “China’s Impending Collapse” and a leading American political commentator
Asia expert and author Gordon Chang said on Sunday, April 11, that the Biden administration is putting the free world at risk by delaying pressure on human rights abuses by the Chinese Communist Party while seeking a deal with them.
Speaking on WABC’s “The Cats Roundtable” on Sunday, Zhang said President Joe Biden’s climate chief John Kerry was one of the pulling forces against holding the Communist Party accountable. “There are a lot of different forces pulling against each other in the Biden administration when it comes to the (Chinese) Communist Party.”
“Kerry has been working hard to try to get a climate deal,” Zhang told host John Catsimatidis, “and he (Kerry) has had some preliminary negotiations with the Chinese (Communist) states. And he was seen talking to the Russian foreign minister in the Indian capital, New Delhi.” “He was quieter than I thought he would be. But we have to remember that the free world is not safe when Kerry is holding a diplomatic passport.”
Zhang also said there is a push to hold the Communist Party of China (the country) accountable by pushing the U.S. to boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. “I think the American people will push the Biden administration to do something it doesn’t want to do because mass detentions, killing of minorities, mass rape, forced labor, slave labor, imprisonment of children – all of these (Chinese Communist Party evils) are too much for the American public. “
“So the Biden administration will eventually be forced to do something about it. And I think you’ll see a similar process in other Western countries. It’s going to be extremely controversial until the moment the Games start next February.” Gordon Chang spoke of “Also, the Chinese Communist Party is tightening up Hong Kong, in trying to cut off the democracy movement. At the same time, the vicious influence of the CCP extends beyond the domination of the mainland.”
“What is most concerning is the Chinese (Communist) state’s military action against Taiwan,” he said, “Almost every day, Chinese (Communist) state aircraft invade Taiwan’s air defense identification zone. At the moment, the first Chinese (Communist) carrier and its support ships are circling around Taiwan. The pressure there is growing.”
Zhang believes Beijing is testing the Biden administration’s response. He said, “If the Biden administration is not firm, I think we are likely to see more (aggression) against Taiwan.”
