“While in the South China Sea, the USS Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG) will conduct maritime strike exercises, anti-submarine operations missions, coordinate tactical training and other activities with a lineup that includes the U.S. Navy’s 11th Carrier Wing (CVW-11), Ticonderoga-class guided missile Cruiser Bunker Hill (USS Bunker Hill CG-52), Destroyer Squadron 23, and Destroyer USS Russell (USS Russell DDG-59).
The airborne air strike formation’s strength comes from the 31st Combat Strike Fighter Squadron (VAF-31), 87th Combat Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA-87), 146th Combat Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA-146), 154th Combat Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA-154), 115th Airborne Warning Squadron (VAW-115), 142nd Electronic Warfare Flight (VAQ- 142), the 75th Helicopter Sea Attack Squadron (HSM-75), the 8th Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC-8 Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron), and the Fleet Logistic Support Squadron 30 (Fleet Logistic Support Squadron VRC 30).
The carrier’s Capt. Eric Anduze mentioned that he was quite proud of the team’s hard work and professionalism during their work, “Our unparalleled toughness and fighting ability is a testament to the U.S. Navy’s determination to preserve freedom.”
The U.S. military noted that the 7th Fleet is the largest forward-deployed fleet in the U.S. Navy, with 50 to 70 carriers and submarines in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean, and that the 7th Fleet interacts with 35 nations while conducting missions to preserve and protect the free and open Indo-Pacific region.
