Government contract workers, on Sept. 10, 2019, are building the Arizona border wall built along the Colorado River paid for by the Pentagon.
New U.S. President Joe Biden reversed Trump’s (Trump’s) border policy upon taking office, even calling off the still-built border wall, thus causing a record influx of illegal immigrants. Recently, Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it is considering resuming construction of the border wall.
An exclusive report released Monday, April 5, by Washington Times reporter Stephen Dinan indicates that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is considering restarting construction of the border wall to fill the empty space that has yet to be built during the Trump presidency. The Trump administration has already built 450 miles of wall from 2017 to 2020.
According to Dinan’s report, from a conversation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employees last week, Mayorkas was asked what his plans were for the wall, and he said that after Biden lifted the state of emergency at the border, he also lifted the flow of Pentagon money to border wall construction. But he believes that this gives “room to make decisions” to fill “some of the gaps between the walls.
According to a review of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement meeting by The Washington Post, Mayorkas said Customs and Border Protection is responsible for overseeing the review of the border wall and they have submitted plans to see improvements in some areas.
The president communicated very clearly his decision that the national emergency that triggered the Department of Defense (DOD) to put money into building the wall at the border is over,” Mayorkas said. But he still has room to make decisions, and that is from management, which can be done as part of management, in specific places where some walls need to be retrofitted. In particular, there are projects that need to go through them.”
And according to an exclusive news report from Breitbart, the stoppage of the border wall on Biden’s first day as president has resulted in a cost to American taxpayers of about $6 million a day because of his decision. And this move has caused the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate him.
And a few days ago, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) also confirmed a report that it is investigating the constitutionality of Biden’s move to freeze construction of a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in January. Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mich.) said, “It’s Congress’ job to authorize the use of this money, and the president has to do nothing but use it effectively.”
Rep. Chip Roy (R-CA) said on Newsmax TV that the Biden administration has claimed to be more “humane” and “compassionate” in its immigration policies, but in reality, the opening of the U.S. southern border is allowing Mexico’s The opening of the U.S. southern border is allowing human trafficking and drug activity by Mexican drug cartels to flourish.
Former Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Director Mark Morgan says Biden’s stoppage of the border wall has put 5,000 construction workers out of work, as well as many more in the steel, cement and skilled trades.
And illegal immigration has skyrocketed under Biden’s administration. In March alone, more than 170,000 border crossers were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border, and that was the most in 15 years. The total number of illegal immigrants also increased by 70 percent from February.
Rob Law, director of regulatory affairs and policy at the Center for Immigration Studies, has said that Biden could get worse in the polls before the 2022 election, and that his pro-immigrant progressive representatives will continue to help many poor immigrants enter the U.S. to compete with them for good jobs, decent housing and K-12 resources.
