Argentine President Alberto Fernandez was diagnosed with the Russian vaccine, and Vladimir Putin made a special call to express his condolences.
Argentine President Alberto Fernandez has been diagnosed with the Chinese Communist virus after receiving two doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a special call to express his condolences. Fernandez thanked the Russian side for providing the vaccine to help prevent the disease and expressed his hope that more Russian-made Sputnik V vaccines would be made available.
Fernandez tweeted on April 2 that he tested positive for the Chinese Communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia). He previously administered his first dose of Sputnik V vaccine on Jan. 21 and his second dose on Feb. 11. However, Fernandez said he was fine except for a headache and a fever of 37.3 degrees, and is currently in isolation.
In response, the Associated Press reported that the Russian Gamaleya Institute, which produces the Sputnik V vaccine, was informed of the news and wished Fernandez a speedy recovery in a Twitter tweet, stressing that the vaccine is 91.6 percent effective and prevents 100 percent of severe illnesses.
The Russian Kremlin said Putin also called Fernandez to offer his condolences, but Fernandez said he was lucky to have received the Sputnik V vaccine and therefore had only mild symptoms. He also thanked Russia for providing the vaccine to help Argentina fight the outbreak, and revealed that he hopes to obtain more Sputnik V vaccine.
According to the report, more than 650,000 people have been vaccinated in Argentina, but 14 days after the second dose of the vaccine, more than 1,000 people have been diagnosed.
The report said that although various vaccines against the Chinese communist virus can significantly reduce the infection rate, there is no vaccine with 100% protection.
