Recently, President Joe Biden‘s eyes were found to be discolored and became a hot topic in the online community. More than a decade ago, Biden’s eyes were a lighter shade of blue, but recently they have turned solid black. This peculiar phenomenon has sparked public suspicion.
Biden gave a public speech on March 11, the anniversary of the start of the U.S. lockdown due to the Communist pneumonia (COVID-19) outbreak, via television. It was his first public speech since becoming president of the United States. However, the outside world does not seem to have much interest in what he actually said, but rather to his dark eyes in particular.
Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist, pointed out on his show “War Room” that a photo taken 15 years ago when Biden was a senator showed him with Irish blue eyes (both his Parents are of Irish descent), but now his eye color has changed dramatically.
Bannon exclaimed on the show, comparing it to Biden’s former Irish blue eyes, “Last night, man, it was a horrible situation! What happened to those eyes? Was it the drugs (that caused it)?”
On March 13, Twitter user Christopher McDonald retweeted two photos of Biden on his Twitter account and tweeted, “Man, the situation is horrible!”
The two photos being used for comparison, the left was taken more than a decade ago when Biden’s eyes were light blue and looked gleaming; the other was taken more recently and the eyes were noticeably larger and darker than they used to be, looking lifeless.

On Twitter, American netizens have engaged in a lively discussion around the issue of Biden’s eyes, offering a variety of speculations and analyses. Some speculated that Biden, 78, may be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and unable to finish his TV speeches independently, so he had to wear smart contact lenses with teleprompter function, thus changing his eye color; some suspected that the Biden appeared in front of the camera was not him, but a “double” with similar appearance or elaborate makeup. There are also some people who fervently post that certain serious diseases can cause an increase in retinal pigmentation, thus changing the color of one’s eyes, and therefore suspect that Biden is suffering from some special disease.
Even Chinese netizens have left comments on Chinese websites with similar speculations about the change in Biden’s eye color.
