New Republican Congressman Cousins: Democrats want to take guns themselves to grab Americans have the right to legally carry guns

Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-Texas) used the floor debate Wednesday to say that the Democrats’ proposed bill is a gun grab for the people, and said that if Democrats want his guns, they must “come and get them” themselves. The phrase means, “If you come and get my gun, I’ll probably shoot you.

Cousins said, “I want to remind my colleagues of a simple fact that is often avoided by the left, that Americans have the right to obtain guns for legitimate purposes.”

Cousins added: “Let me be clear to everyone in this room, you can’t take the right to bear arms away from us. In Washington, maybe my words will be drowned in a bubble, and know that outside of Washington in the real America, when we say ‘come and get it,’ we absolutely mean it.”

Cousins then criticized the left’s blind pursuit of gun control and warned, “If you think that with this bastardization of the Constitution, Americans will be silenced, then you know nothing about America. You want my guns, I know that, we all know that. Well, Mr. Speaker, you want my gun, you’re going to have to get it yourself.”

The Recount Media (The Recount) published video of Coxon’s closing remarks.

On March 10, 2021, Breitbart News released a video of Republican Rep. Chip Roy (R-WI) also speaking on the House floor against Democratic gun control. Roy made it clear that Democrats could push for gun registration all they wanted, but Roy promised he would never let the government know what guns he owned.
