On the morning of March 9, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, Chang’an District, a 26-story office building burst into flames, burning from the ground floor, straight to the top floor, the entire building burned like a dragging black smoke fire dragon. According to local media reports, a fire broke out at about 11:20 a.m. on March 9 at the Zhongxin Building in Chang’an District, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, which may have started on the first floor of the building. By 13:28, the fire was basically under control and the building’s merchants, staff and residents of seven nearby residential buildings had been safely evacuated. Reports say the fire is burning mainly insulation. No casualties have been reported.
According to the report, Zhongxin Building was built in 2003, with a total of 622 houses. The total height of the building is 111.6 meters, with 26 floors. The Sinopec gas station (South Construction Street), 150 meters away, is about 2 minutes’ walk from the Zhongxin Building. In addition, the building is surrounded by Shijiazhuang First Hospital.
According to the people at the scene, the fire started on the first floor of the building and an explosion was heard when the fire was burning. When the fire is burning, the upper floors are constantly falling burning materials.
