The Gateway Pundit reports that Trump has sent a Cease-and-Desist letter to the Republican National Committee asking that the use of his name be stopped.
President Trump’s lawyers have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Republican National Committee (RNC) asking that the use of his name and likeness for fundraising events be stopped, according to the report.
The letter was also sent to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).
This follows reports that Trump and his new campaign are also cracking down on the use of the president’s name for fundraising.
According to an exclusive report on Politico’s website Saturday, Trump wants the groups to stop “using his name and likeness on fundraising mailings and merchandise.
Politico reported, “Trump is angry that his name is being spread without his permission by organizations that helped vote to impeach him as a Republican. Trump, who made his fortune on the mandate, has been sensitive to how his name has been used to raise money and support members, even while in office.”
The Republican National Committee sent out two emails on Friday highlighting Trump’s name – the first asking people to donate and sign a virtual “thank you” card for him.
“President Trump will always defend the American people, and I’ve come up with the perfect way for you to show your support for him!” The email reads.” As one of President Trump’s most loyal supporters, I think you, deservedly, deserve the great honor of adding your name to the official Trump ‘Thank You’ card.”
The second letter urged people to hurry up and sign the “card” and give them money.
Insiders said privately that it was impossible not to use Trump’s name because he is too popular with the Republican base, the report said.
“President Trump remains committed to the Republican Party and electing America First conservatives, but that doesn’t allow either person – friend or foe – to use his likeness without explicit approval,” a Trump adviser told Politico’s website.
