480,000 a catty overpriced tea repeatedly banned hit tea enterprises tea farmers

Wuyi rock tea, produced in Wuyishan City, Fujian Province, is one of the traditional famous teas on the mainland, with varieties such as the famous Da Hong Pao, Shui Xian and Cinnamon. It has always been pricey, and recently it has risen from thousands and tens of thousands of yuan per catty to more than 100,000 yuan or even hundreds of thousands of yuan (RMB, same below).

According to “China News Weekly”, recently, a “sky rock tea” list circulating on the Internet shows that the list of products per catty price is 50,000 yuan, more than 300,000 yuan of products as many as 14. And a label “not for sale” hand Shang work “far incense” tea, 10 grams of 1 bubble price of 9600 yuan, equivalent to 480,000 yuan per catty.

In Beijing tea market, Narcissus, Da Hong Pao, cinnamon and other Wuyi rock tea is available, the price ranges from four or five hundred yuan to seven or eight thousand dollars. Some tea merchants said that

There are also priced at twenty-eight thousand / kg of tea, and more than one hundred thousand, but there is no stock, if needed can be shipped directly from Fujian.

Wuyi rock tea sales in the tea market is good, but in recent years the price has repeatedly soared. According to the tea merchants, the individual in the name of “scarce”, “master” can even be sold to more than 100,000 yuan. And mixed, counterfeit and shoddy many.

Information shows that Wuyishan tea plantation area of 148,000 mu, annual output of rock tea is only 10,000 tons, from the core production area “three pits two streams” of tea less than 10%. However, in Beijing Malian Road tea street, a number of stores are sold.

A number of industry insiders pointed out that some tea merchants to scarcity, uniqueness, etc. as a selling point, excessive packaging, hunger marketing, pushing up prices. This behavior has deviated from the original purpose of tea Culture, but also deviated from the essence of tea as a livelihood product. At the same Time, the repercussions caused to the whole industry should not be underestimated.

Ouyang Daokun, executive vice president of the Continental Tea Business School, said that the sky-high tea prices will destroy the industrial order. “Under the profiteering, sales link, brand link, processing link, raw material procurement link, and even planting link, there will be counterfeit and even kill the chicken, this destructive behavior is very large and profound. The industrial order is destroyed, in turn, will hurt the market demand.”

A local tea merchant in Wuyishan said, tea in the end is used to drink, not fried, the consumer crowd is mainly the public, not so much high-end demand.

The main body of the tea market on the mainland is in the country, with a total tea production of 2.79 million tons in 2019, including 2.02 million tons of domestic sales, 360,000 tons of export sales and 400,000 tons of inventory. Supply exceeds demand is the basic market norm. And the price and sales of rock tea are almost ice and fire.

Data show that since the past two years, the average stagnation rate of low-end rock tea is between 30% and 40%.

Nanping Strait Tea Association, said the person in charge of the local Wuyishan more than 5,000 registered tea enterprises, of which more than 90% are small-scale enterprises, individual enterprises lagging rate of even more than 40%.

Wuyishan rock tea hype, the result is like the year of Pu’er tea, the ultimate victims are small and medium-sized enterprises and tea farmers.

In the first half of 2007, Yunnan Pu’er tea production cut by half due to drought, tea merchants came to the local snapping up, inflated prices, and even shot 400,000 yuan / kg of sky. Six months later, the bubble burst, Pu’er tea prices fell to “cabbage prices” are not asked for, a large number of Pu’er tea processing enterprises closed down bankruptcy, tea farmers suffered heavy losses.

Why is it that “overpriced tea” is repeatedly banned? In fact, the regulatory authorities have not been idle, every time there is a “sky-high tea” after the wind and rain rectification. But soon, “overpriced tea” and once again make a comeback.

A few days ago, the Fujian Provincial Bureau of Market Regulation, the Department of Agriculture and rural Affairs quickly launched a spot check, and together with industry associations jointly issued a notice to rectify the “overpriced rock tea” chaos, while limiting tea pricing per 500g does not exceed 60,000 yuan.

But the past years of experience tells people that the next “overpriced tea” is on its way.
