Chinese Communist Party’s military personnel changes 3 admirals of the Communist Army get new positions in the National People’s Congress

The Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress (NPC) today (Feb. 28) announced a series of personnel appointments, with three PLA generals being appointed to new positions in the NPC.

Wang Ning was appointed deputy chairman of the NPC’s Constitution and Law Committee, Zheng Weiping was appointed deputy chairman of the NPC’s Education, Science, Culture and Health Committee, and Zhao Zongqi was appointed deputy chairman of the NPC’s Foreign Affairs Committee, according to a news release on the NPC website today.

Wang Ning was formerly the commander of the Armed Police Force, Zheng Weiping was the political commissar of the Strategic Support Force, and Zhao Zongqi was formerly the commander of the Western War Zone.

Currently, the commander of the Armed Police Force is Wang Chunning, the political commissar of the Strategic Support Unit is Li Wei, and the commander of the Western Theater is Zhang Xudong.

Wang Ning, Zheng Weiping and Zhao Zongqi, all born in 1955, were all promoted to the rank of general (police) at the same Time in July 2015 and were all elected to the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in October 2017.

The Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Congress today also appointed Yu Hongqiu and Fu Kui as deputy directors of the National Supervisory Commission.

The fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), held last month 24, has elected Yu Hongqiu and Fu Kui as deputy secretaries of the CCDI. Prior to that, Yu Hongqiu was deputy secretary of the Party Group and director of the Council of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives; Fu Kui was a member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Committee, secretary of the Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and director of the Provincial Supervisory Commission.
