U.S. media: Pelosi had hinted at keeping the National Guard away from Congress

U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), speaker of the House of Representatives.

The U.S. conservative website recently quoted three people with knowledge of the matter as saying that Pelosi’s office had hinted to former Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving months ago that he should keep the National Guard off the Capitol grounds and out of the Capitol on Jan. 6.

The Daily Caller reported Saturday (27) that the three people with knowledge of the matter were all people with direct knowledge of Irving’s conversations with the House administration.

The three sources said the conversation became a “stumbling block in his decision making,” as Irving recalled to the House administration after the Jan. 6 congressional riots with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her office.

Owen said Pelosi’s office had hinted to him that the National Guard was going to stay off the Capitol Hill grounds. The conversation took place months before the Jan. 6 riots. At the Time, the idea of responding to a possible riot by deploying the National Guard was not popular among Democrats and many members of Congress.

The paper noted that if the above information is accurate, it casts doubt on the role Pelosi’s office played in the Jan. 6 congressional riots.

In a statement to the Daily Wire, Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, did not deny the allegations.

“It is our understanding that Rep. Rodney Davis, the ranking Republican member of the House Administration Committee, was briefed on security preparations prior to Jan. 6, but he took no action to address possible security concerns.” The statement said.

Sources: Pelosi denied national guards to deploy Capitol before Jan. 6
One of the mysteries left by the Jan. 6 Capitol incident is why the former Capitol Police chief was denied six requests to transfer National Guard troops and delayed sending them in for several hours that day as well? The latest news is that three sources say Pelosi wouldn’t let them near Congress. https://t.co/Lvi2okv3X2

The Jan. 6 congressional riots are still suspicious, and Pelosi has been blamed for the incident. Some Republican lawmakers have called for an investigation into whether Pelosi ignored the possible threat after receiving intelligence that delayed the deployment of the National Guard.
