But the message and comments immediately disappeared on Weibo, suspected to be “harmonized” by online commentators.

Tom Qianlong, a U.S.-based netizen who has posted numerous videos mocking Xi Jinping on social media, said in an interview with the station that in China’s cramped political environment, ordinary people can only use their imagination to express their voices in a subtle way.

Tom Qianlong said, “The fact that the word “cui” can be associated with the word “xi pawn” shows two problems: First, the Chinese people are seriously dissatisfied with Xi Jinping; and second, the Chinese people’s freedom of speech is severely restricted, so they need to use their imagination to express themselves. their own voices. When I see Chinese people racking their brains to say something from their hearts and immediately being blocked, it’s a good thing I’m in the United States and can do something to help give Chinese people a voice.

French independent filmmaker Wang Longmeng agrees that it will soon be the third anniversary of Xi Jinping’s constitutional amendment, showing his weakness by his heavy sentencing of Ren Zhiqiang and his suppression of Xu Zhangrun and other dissident voices.

Wang Longmeng said, “It will soon be the third anniversary of Xi Jinping’s constitutional amendment, and the blocking of the “Praying for Cui” theme is very much like the work of an “emperor in a dragon robe”, from Xi Jinping’s heavy sentencing of Ren Zhiqiang, who criticized him, to the suppression of Xu Zhangrun and other people, this kind of word prison reminds us of the famous ancient emperor. We are reminded of the ancient history of imperial taboos, where the shunning of The Emperor became a draconian decree, and Xi is repeating that history. The more outrageous the ban, the more power and the more weakness he shows, and the more he can only suppress the growing discontent by severely clamping down on freedom of expression.

Wang Longmeng also said the authoritarian state is a rich mine of laughs for writers, filmmakers and artists, and he and his companions are considering documenting Xi Jinping’s evil rule in the form of absurd dramas.

Steve Chan, a Chinese student in the U.S., has recently been active on Clubhouse, where he and a group of friends mocked the evil policies of the Xi Jinping era in an ironic and playful way. He believes there are more and more awakened Chinese people. He told us that Xi Jinping’s “pro-people show” and “anti-corruption banner” were very confusing to him when he first came to power, but he started to wake up politically after Xi Jinping amended the constitution and cracked down on Hong Kong. He believes that tyranny will provoke more people to move from covert protest to open protest.

General Secretary Xi is too sensitive, of course, he is not legitimate, 2023 he will be the third term, he is more afraid of the emergence of such voices. When Xi Jinping first came to power, I saw that the political propaganda “eat buns” are quite pro-people, and beat the tiger or something, I did not have this political awakening at that time. However, after the Hong Kong incident, I knew that the Chinese Communist Party, especially Xi Jinping, was terrifying in its suppression of freedom. I saw that there are some friends who are ready to unite and progress from a zero to one.
