The French medical community has been aware since the beginning that the AstraZeneca anti-Covid-19 vaccine is associated with fatigue, nausea and fever, but this does not affect its effectiveness.
The side effects of the AstraZeneca anti-Covid-19 vaccine were reported in a long interview with Sylvie Koffi on Sunday (February 21, 2021) in the Science section of the RFI French website, which explains that the French medical community has known about them since the beginning, since they do not affect the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca vaccine. It is highlighted here.
C explains that fever, nausea, fatigue and headaches are all known to occur after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. The French medical community knows that the discomfort after an AstraZeneca vaccination is more intense than with other vaccines, but is not severe, lasting about 48 hours and feeling similar to a cold; between 10% and 15% of vaccine recipients experience these conditions.
Advance vaccination in an orderly manner
For vaccination of health care workers, doctors recommend a gradual advancement to avoid a 10% or 15% shortage in some departments due to uncomfortable reactions, so organized batches of vaccination are needed. The AstraZeneca vaccine was developed with the goal of avoiding Covid-19 severe disease with an efficiency of 95%. In terms of uncomfortable reactions after vaccination, Pfizer is much less.
AstraZeneca is effective
AstraZeneca remains fully effective despite the uncomfortable reactions that can occur after vaccination. Doctors describe the feeling of receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine as slightly dangerous as driving 135 km/h on a highway with a speed limit of 130 km/h, but extremely dangerous as driving in the opposite direction on a highway without the vaccination.
Vaccination speed up
The AstraZeneca vaccine is currently only available for people under the age of 65. The results of studies on vaccination for people over 65 years of age are not yet comprehensive. AstraZeneca is now arriving in major pharmacies and clinics in France, and the general practitioners are pleased. Doctors note that this vaccine has changed the scale of vaccination initiatives in France.
