New York State’s Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo has been strongly criticized for covering up the nursing Home Epidemic, including by New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim, who has received threats from Cuomo as a result.
Kim signed and circulated a letter criticizing Governor Cuomo for not truthfully reporting nursing home deaths during the Communist pandemic and accusing Cuomo’s office of “intentional” obstruction of justice. When Cuomo heard about it, he called Kim Tui-Shi specifically to scold him.
Kintrich told CNN that he received threatening phone calls. Cuomo threatened to ruin his career if he did not cooperate in covering up what his secretary, Melissa DeRosa, said.
He tried to pressure me and get me to make a statement,” Kintrich said. It was a very unfortunate experience.” “We’re in this business together and we can’t cross certain lines”, Cuomo told him.
“He said I hadn’t seen his anger yet and that he could destroy me.” Kim Tui Sik said. He added that in his Life, he had never met anyone who spoke to him in that way.
“At one point, he even tried to humiliate me by asking, ‘Are you a lawyer?’ I don’t think so. You’re not a lawyer.’ In retrospect, he would have tried to deliberately provoke me and then say something inappropriate. I’m glad I didn’t do that.” Kintrich added.
Kintrich told CNN he also received multiple calls without caller ID afterward, and Cuomo’s aide then sent a message saying the governor wanted to speak with him again. He did not comply.
On Saturday, New York State Assemblyman Kieran Lalor, a Republican, launched a petition to impeach Cuomo, which had collected 18,000 signatures in just three days by Tuesday.
Lalor’s petition website states that the state legislature can impeach and remove the governor for “willful and corrupt conduct” and let the lieutenant governor take over. “An impeached New York governor cannot regain executive power unless he or she is found not guilty in an impeachment trial. Therefore, as long as 76 of the 150 members of the New York State Assembly vote to impeach, Governor Cuomo will be stripped of his executive powers.”
