WHO’s investigation in China questioned, Tadese says experts fully independent

After the international team of experts went to China to study the source of the Epidemic, the U.S. government has spoken out to question the process of reaching conclusions, to which WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday that this is an independent study by experts, stressing that “it is not a WHO investigation, WHO only coordinates in the middle”.

According to the Central News Agency, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday at the WHO online press conference that whatever the conclusions of the future summary investigation report will be, these are independent studies by experts.

Tandse said only two of the international panel of experts are from WHO, and the other 10 experts are from 10 agencies in different countries, the message said. WHO will not guide them on what to do, it is up to the experts to provide independent reports.

The international expert panel that went to China to investigate the origin of the new coronavirus held a press conference in Wuhan on Feb. 9 to release preliminary findings on the origin of the virus, the spread of the seafood market, the role of bats, and the Wuhan Institute of Virus “leaking virus”.

U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan expressed deep concern about the way the preliminary results of the international experts’ investigation were released on Feb. 13, and also questioned the process by which the WHO reached its conclusions. He stressed that the findings should be independent and free from Chinese interference or falsification.
