No power outage in Cuba, widespread nationwide Internet and phone outages for 90 minutes

Something unusual? At around 12:00 noon local Time on the 12th of the day, there was no power outage in Cuba, but the Internet and calls were cut off nationwide until 90 minutes later.

According to Reuters, Cubans from Havana and three other provinces revealed that Internet service and international calls were cut off at noon that day, and they waited for 90 minutes before they could make calls, and then finally got online after 10 minutes.

The Cuban state-run telecommunications company ETECSA said in response that this was due to a technical problem that occurred at the time, which affected the Internet connection. It is understood that Cuba has been gradually allowing people to use smartphones to access the Internet since 2018, with about 4.2 million people using this service among 11.2 million people, and only 170,000 homes in Cuba are connected to the Internet.
